Love the drawing, especially the hair and eyes.

As far as drawing paper goes get a good quality cartridge paper that is marked "Acid Free", also check out the following links for more advice on choosing paper

your drawing technique is great, therefore your choice of paper just depends on what overall style and look you're going for..the only advise i can give is to clean up slight smudges around the drawing with a kneadable eraser----+8

Her right eye is much bigger than her left eye, when it should have been a tad smaller due to perspective. Invest more time in constructing the drawing - it seems you're mostly focusing on rendering, not on getting a good sketch. You can't get a good drawing from a flawed sketch, no more than you could make a turd better by polishing it. :)

Also, consider wearing archivist's gloves when you work. The background shows dirty fingerprints. ;) The white cotton gloves can be bought in photo materials store, for about $3 a pair; cut the tips of the thumb and two adjacent figures off the glove for your working hand and wear while drawing. No skin oil = better graphite layering and no blots.

WOW! It's beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeautiful!!!! *jumps, jumps, jumps* I'm d'accord with arenhaus 'bout the eyes, but yet it's great! ^^ Aw, a nice paper that I love for pencil drawing is Canson paper. I like it thaaaat much! +7 for ya!

Lovely! You have a nice style. I think the neck could maybe have a little shade just under the hair but then again I think the light source is from the front so forget that.
I always get dirty fingerprints on my paper, but as for cotton gloves!

thanks so much for the constructive criticism! i will definatly look for the gloves, arenhaus, and the paper, imperfecta!

Wow! This is really nice work Amik. I must admit that this is the first time I have viewed your work. I love your use of shading and detail. My only crit on this drawing is that the left and right eyes seem a little off and her shoulders seem harsh.

Great work!

+10 for your pencil work. You could work a bit on presentation to really make your work outstanding. Little tip from an old pencil pusher. Lightly sketch out the whole work first to make sure that it will be laid out on the paper well. Think of the paper as part of the work. Mirror work also. You can use a window to veiw it from by placing it against the glass backwards and looking at it from the other side. Or a light table if you have one. I use to make one by using a glass coffee table and puting an unshaded lamp under it when it came time to mirror. What mirroring does is let you look at the work from another perspective and you will see minor problems like one eye being larger then the other or off from the other. Or little warps in lines. We all seem to get off a bit like we do with writing on unlined paper...so mirroring a work is like solid gold in correcting that. Also be sure and clean up your paper with an eraser as was suggested. Scanners show every finger print and smudge and will ruin a presentation.
Well I must go on and see your other work. Sorry for the long post....and thank you for the wonderful compliments in my gallery.

If you draw this good on computer paper, maybe that's just good enough for you. Just go to art stores and look around. If you want more realism, you probably want smoother paper (just like computer paper). It might cost more after a while to just use computer paper, and I'm guessing you use quite a bit since your drawings are at an advanced level already. :)
I'm not saying I'm all that great at drawing, but I used to suck at drawing the human figure and perspective, but after lots of research and practice I've gotten way better. Your're still better. :p haha so keep it up!

Allow me, if you will, to throw in a few cents worth of nitpicks as well. Before I do, I must say that you are exceptionally talented. Your shadows are really good. In fact, they're gorgeous. I'm enjoying your work more and more with each piece I see. As for critiques -The head and shoulders are a little out of proportion...the head is bit too large for the shoulders. And the roll-like area behind her neck and under the hair seems a little odd - as if the arm and shoulder had an extra muscle. Looking at it further, I see its because her neck is too narrow. Also have to agree with other posters about the eyes.

In regards to papers - for me personally, i like to work on cold press watercolor paper, the kind with the rough surface. But, I'd highly recommend a trip to an art supply store or even go to Dick Blick art supplies at dickblick.com and see what 's available in papers.

All in all, a very nice piece. An “A” for effort, a “B” for execution for the things I mentioned. Nice work!

beautiful sketch, i love the expression on her face as well. It almost seems as if it was an old 50's glamour shot. The only thing that bothers me composition wise is the position of her head in refrence to her neck/body. The position seems a bit unnatural, but other than that it's wonderful
